Most women have suffered through the seemingly endless nightmare of period pain at one time or another in their lives. What is it?

How does it work?

CBD primarily acts as a muscle relaxant and an anti-inflammatory, meaning that it takes away the squeezing muscle pain and puffy discomfort that make period cramps so agonizing. It also has pain fighting properties, meaning that it can dissipate the effects of cramps and take care of the aches and pains that you probably get in your back and breasts during your time of the month. On a less pleasant side note, CBD also works to stop the muscle cramps and inflammation that can often lead to diarrhea during your period. And if that’s all not enough, CBD also has positive effects on mood, making you feel less anxious and irritable, so it can counteract annoying bouts of PMS too.

How can I use it?

There are so many ways to use CBD to stop period pain! The most common form of CBD is CBD oil and tinctures which can be ingested, so you could start by taking a little of a hemp CBD oil when your period pains start to come on. Alternatively, you could go right to the heart of the problem by using a vaginal suppository infused with CBD which will help the pain to melt away from your pelvis. There are also bath salts that use CBD, such as the Whoopi & Maya bath soak (although note that this does contain some THC as well as CBD), which you can easily integrate into your usual wine-bath-book period routine to ease your pain. If you’re looking for other more relaxing options than simple CBD oils, you could try a hemp massage oil that’s rich in CBD to rub down parts of your body that are feeling uncomfortable. There are also CBD treats like gummy bears, cacao nibs, and honey so you can satisfy your sweet tooth while you period pain gets washed away.

Menstrual pain can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to run your life. Use CBD treatments for an all-natural, safe, and effective remedy to your period pains.
