The only way to find your key amount is to experiment. Much like alcohol tolerance, everyone has a different threshold. Start by trying a small amount and see how you feel. Give it some time, as many strains don’t take effect until several minutes after the CBD hits your bloodstream. If you find that nothing’s improved, take a little more. Increase it incrementally until the proper balance is reached. Remember, you can always increase your CBD, but you can’t instantly expel it from your body if you exceed the ideal dose.
Another thing to consider is how you’d like to use the marijuana. Although smoking is the most commonly known delivery method, it can still prove harmful to your lungs. Some individuals also find it unpleasant, as marijuana smoke is an irritant that induces strong coughing.
Fortunately, it’s possible to ingest cannabis in a variety of smoke-free ways. Cannabis oil, for instance, comes in caplets that you swallow like any regular pill. Studies have proven its efficacy in reducing anxiety. Similarly, users can create their own cannabis oil or extracts to mix with teas or baked goods, such as brownies, cookies or muffins. Keep in mind that the CBD has to go through your digestive system before it’s absorbed into your bloodstream. As a result, it can take upwards of 45 minutes before you feel its effects.
Although still controversial, there’s increasing evidence showing medical cannabis as a safe alternative to conventional prescription drugs. Considering the costs and side effects associated with anti-anxiety medications, it can’t hurt to research alternative therapies like this one.
